About Us

The American Carbon Registry (ACR) is a leading voluntary offset program with strong standards for environmental integrity and over a decade of operational experience in high quality carbon offset issuance, serialization and transparent on-line transaction reporting.

As the first private voluntary GHG registry in the U.S., ACR has set the bar for transparency and integrity that is the market standard today. ACR has issued over 30 million project based carbon offsets and in 2008 was the most widely used voluntary carbon market registry in the world. For more information.

ACR Feature Story - Member Awards

On November 12th, Winrock International’s American Carbon Registry (ACR) hosted its annual ACR Members and Friends dinner in Washington D.C. Three distinguished ACR member companies were presented with awards based on the ACR guiding principles of excellence, quality and innovation.

Entergy was honored with the ACR Utility Excellence award for its work with ACR over the past eight years to transparently report and reduce its carbon emissions. Entergy registers its corporate greenhouse gas inventory on ACR and has documented progress of 68 million tons of emissions reductions below its 2000 baseline target. Entergy also has over one million high quality project-based carbon offsets registered on ACR.

Commonwealth Resource Management Corporation (CRMC) received the ACR Commitment to Quality award for using ACR as its “registry of first impression” and registering over two million tons on ACR in the past five years. CRMC is the only ACR member to register offsets and also operate a retail arm, e-Blue Horizons, through which the company has booked over 600 offsets transactions to small retail customers. CRMC donates 50% of the proceeds from e-Blue Horizons sales to worthy carbon offset projects.

C2I was presented with the ACR Innovation award for its development of the GreenTrees project, through which one million acres in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley will be reforested. The resulting offsets will be the first forest carbon offsets registered on ACR. The GreenTrees project, a multi-phase, scalable project for aggregating landowners in the region to participate in carbon markets, has been praised by local political leaders and national environmental groups as a first of its kind project and a win-win for landowners and the environment.

American Carbon Registry is proud to work with companies like Entergy, Commonwealth Resources Management Corporation and C2I, who are environmental leaders and champions.
