Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.1

Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.1

The ACR Forest Carbon Project Standard v 2.1 details requirements and specifications for the quantification, monitoring, and reporting of forest project-based greenhouse gas emissions reductions and removals, methodological acceptance, verification, registration, and issuance of offsets for trade in the global voluntary and U.S. pre-compliance carbon markets. Requirements are provided for Afforestation/Reforestation (AR), Improved Forest Management (IFM), and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) projects.

The ACR Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.1 supersedes ACR Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.0 of the same document. Version 2.1 makes certain updates and clarifications for consistency with other ACR standards and methodologies. All essential requirements remain unchanged. Project Proponents with project registration in process under v2.0 may continue to use that version provided projects are registered by January 31, 2011; or may elect to use v2.1.

Forest carbon projects prepared for registration on ACR must comply with the Forest Carbon Project Standard v2.1 and the more general requirements of the ACR Standard v2.1; apply an ACR-approved methodology; secure certification by ACR of the GHG Project Plan; and secure independent third-party validation and verification by an ACR-approved verifier.
