Improved Forest Management (IFM) Methodology for Non-Federal U.S. Forestlands
The Improved Forest Management Methodology for Quantifying GHG Removals and Emission Reductions through Increased Forest Carbon Sequestration on Non-Federal U.S. Forestlands details requirements for non-federally owned forestland in the U.S. to quantify GHG removals and emissions reductions through enhanced sequestration and/or emissions reductions relative to baseline forest management. Lands must be subject to commercial timber harvesting activities, by the entity owning or controlling timber rights, under a forest management plan in both the baseline and project scenarios.
The methodology was developed by Columbia Carbon LLC, a subsidiary of CE2 Carbon Capital in partnership with L&C Carbon LLC, based on the approved ACR IFM methodology for U.S. timberlands developed by Finite Carbon Corporation.
Projects using this methodology must comply with all requirements of the ACR Forest Carbon Project Standard , submit a GHG Project Plan for certification by ACR, and secure independent validation and verification by an ACR-approved third-party verifier.
