Afforestation and Reforestation of Degraded Lands

This ACR A/R methodology is applicable to projects conducting  Afforestation and Reforestation of Degraded Lands  that are expected to remain degraded or continue to degrade in the absence of the project, and where the project proponent wishes to account for harvested wood products.

The core of the methodology is the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) approved consolidated afforestation and reforestation baseline and monitoring methodology AR-ACM0001 Version 5.0.0, with the addition of accounting for harvested wood products drawn from a “Methodology for Improved Forest Management through Extension of Rotation Age” developed by Winrock International for Ecotrust. The ACR methodology is believed to be the first A/R methodology with international wood products accounting.

The consolidation of these two existing methodologies was proposed by TREES Forest Carbon Consulting, and reviewed and approved by ACR’s independent Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) Technical Committee.
